THE ISLAND

The magic of Inishcoo Island

Inishcoo Island has many beautiful natural beaches. Near Beach, the closest to the house, stretches out to neighbouring Eighter Island at low tide: swimming, rock climbing, gathering seashells and building sandcastles are amongst the many things one can do.

On the opposite side of the island lies Bottom Beach, secluded within a beautiful bay of crystal clear water. Further on, Shipwreck Beach is the place for seashells, wild mussels, smooth pebbles, and its own small shipwreck!

The island offers plenty of wonderful inland walks amongst giant boulders nestled in purple heather. The Inishcoo cows graze peacefully and swim out to the neighbouring islands at low tide. There is a freshwater lake where birds come to fish, a bog dotted with wild orchids and a craggy shoreline on the eastern side of the island.
